This is Mr. Burke's RDW Fifth Grade home page for students and parents. Homework assignments and announcements may be found here.

Note to Parents:
One of homework's main purpose is to provide additional practice in concepts we have practiced in class. Your child should have some basic knowledge of that concept but might simply need practice in preforming the skill.
Sometimes homework is assigned as a comprehension activity. Students may be asked to read some information and complete a set of questions showing that they have read carefully.
In rare instances, homework may be assigned as a pre-test so that the teacher can see if a given topic or concept has been mastered by your child in an earlier grade. When that happens your child may know nothing about the concept. That is helpful information for the teacher to know. If and when that takes place, I as the teacher, will notify you via the homework blog post as well as describing this in class.
